In my night chamber, I hold a picture
of a love that - will be nevermore
Is it my mind, or is it real
but I sense a presence at my door
in my heart chambers I still feel,
of the love from - the woman that I adored
Is it my mind, or is it real
this ghostly figure I hear her call
Apparition, my obsession. my beloved from far beyond
new perceptions, my reflection, I'll be loved when I am gone.
hold me tightly, through the dark times, immortalize this love in song.
my fair maiden, of the nether, how could love ever be wrong (be wrong)
I can't hold you
but I will never let you go
and I can't see you
but I feel your fingers grip my soul
Apparition, my obsession. my beloved from far beyond
new perceptions, my reflection, I'll be loved when I am gone.
hold me tightly, through the dark times, immortalize this love in song.
my fair maiden, of the nether, how could love ever be wrong (be wrong)
First full lenght album by the band, preceded by the two excellent EP's 'Fault Line' and 'Reflections'. In line with their now characteristic sound and influences, October Burns Black deliver a great collection of tracks whose spell is impossible to resist.
Classy and classic gothic rock at it's best. Dionysos Nyktelios
Cinematic-scale goth from Reflection Black with catchy melodies, dreamy synths, punchy rhythms, and a sense of timelessness. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 21, 2023
A killer re-release of a rare solo post-punk LP from 1988 by the frontman of Taste of Decay and Garden of Pleasures. Bandcamp New & Notable Jan 17, 2022
I like the subtle way in which the tracks connect to the album cover, making this resting maiden the center point — calm in the midst of storm. (Just my interpretation maybe but the cover gives extra depth to the music... a softer undertone). The image reminds me of ‘Annunciation’ by Dante G. Rossetti used in ‘Adrenaline’ music video.
‘Smoke and Mirrors’ puts me at peace with big disappointments — a bittersweet musical potion.
